FDA reported that some consumers have been fooled into using fake Alli pills that are have more debilitating effects than the rest of the counterfeit Alli pills. This is mainly due to the extra sibutramine in the capsule, which causes heart problems. The FDA discovered that people who have used this particular counterfeit reported symptoms such as anxiety, nausea, restlessness, and heart palpitations.
Although no casualties have been reported, sibutramine is not suggested for people with a background of cardiovascular disease as the substance can cause high blood pressure, stroke, and even heart attack. In contrast, the Alli, FDA approved weight loss capsules do not cause the above symptoms and conditions.
